Hazelwood students were very fortunate to receive a visit from author Dave Rudden recently.
Dave’s debut novel, already a huge best seller, is about Denizen Hardwick, a boy who doesn’t believe in magic – until he’s ambushed by a monster created from shadows and sees it destroyed by a word made of sunlight.
The Knights of the Borrowed Dark has been shortlisted for the Hennessy New Irish Writing Prize and the Bath Short Story Prize.
Hazelwood College fifth year English students welcomed the author of the acclaimed “The Spinning Heart” Donal Ryan to Hazelwood College. The students studied the novel as part of their Leaving Certificate. Hazelwood College was recently visited by Jane Mitchell, the author of ‘Chalkline’. 3rd year students are currently studies the book as part of their Junior Certificate English coursework.
