Hazelwood College, Dromcollogher met CBS Doon in the Limerick Senior Hurling Schools ‘A’ Quarter Final.
Coached by Conor Murphy a strong Hazelwood side won the game on a scoreline of 3-15 to 2-9. There were outstanding performances from Jamie Coughlan (1-9), Tadgh O’Flynn and Henry O’Gorman. They will now
go on to meet Hospital in the semi final.
Hazelwood College had an easy win over Rathkeale in the Under 14 Championship. They held Rathkeale scoreless in the first half scoring a total of 2 goals and 9 points. Jerry Lane excelled catching two high balls from Barry Lynch and putting the ball in the net each time. Billy Naughton (Captain) who lead by example with a personal tally of 2-6 was outstanding. Rathkeale only scored 1 goal with Hazelwood finishing deserved winners with a impressive total of 6-17.

Hazelwood College Drains School GAA pitch
After five years of playing in the mud Hazelwood College has decided to drain the schools G.A.A field. The work has been facilitated by a grant of €20,000 from Limerick County Council and is being undertaken by Adrian Hogan Ltd. The project is being overseen by PE instructor Mr. Conor Murphy. Pictured are School Principal Mr Liam Lenihan and Deputy Principal Mr Michael Cregan on site with one of Mr Hogans machines.

Hazelwood College lift Clifford Cup for seventh time in eight years

This final took place in Askeaton recently and playing against a very strong breeze the Dromcollogher girls found themselves a goal and a point behind after five minutes.On settling down though, things started to happen and they got into their pattern to open up the game out wide. By half time a goal from Ciara Meaney and two well taken points from Niamh Greaney had them ahead by a point 1-2 to 1-1.
With the breeze, it was all one way traffic in the second half with some great displays from Ciara Meaney, Denise O Connell, Niamh Greaney, Vickie Harnett, Maire Flanagan, Zoe O Connell and Niamh Cagney. The scoring came from from Denise O Donnell (2-1), Martina Curtin (2-0), Vickie Harnett, Ciara Meaney, Aoife Leahy and Niamh Greaney getting a point each. Overall Askeaton played very well in the first half but were unlucky to score only a goal and a point, however the strength and experience of the Hazelwood girls proved to much on the day.
Winning 7 out of the last 8 Clifford Cups proved once again that Hazelwood College are simply the best in Co. Limerick.

Hazelwood Colleges 2nd Year Basketball team have been unstoppable this season. Last month they ran out clear winners in the Co. Limerick VEC Blitz. The girls were victorious over Castletroy College, Colaiste Chiarán, Croom, Desmond College, NCW and St Michaels, Cappamore. The team were also competing in the Limerick Schools Competition. On Friday last, having defeated teams from SMI, Scoil Carmel and the Presentation Secondary School,Limerick they took on Desmond College, Newcastle West in the final which took place in the UL arena. Hazelwood were victorious on the day and were delighted to be bringing the Limerick Schools Plate to Dromcollogher. Meanwhile, the cadet team were unlucky to be narrowly defeated in their final against Castletroy after a fantastic performance.
The Hazelwood College Hurling team who lined out in the Munster Final against Roscrea recently. They were unlucky to be beaten in the final but it was a fantastic achievement nonetheless.

In recent years Hazelwood Colleges CJ Fitzpatrick has become a rising star of Irish Handball. Placed 2nd in the world with Seamus O Carroll (40 X 20) he has captured no less than 14 All Irelands along with County and Provincial titles. St Brogans, Bandon: 3-10
Hazelwood are through to the Munster semi final after defeating the much fancied St Brogans’s of Bandon in the quarter final played last Wednesday at Rathcool in Dromtariff GAA grounds. Having started badly the previous week Hazewood were determined to get off to a good start and this they did racing into a 1-3 to no score lead. All the scores came through the excellent Jamie Coughlan at corner forward with only one of his points from a placed ball, the goal- a rocket from at least 25 yard out. Hazelwood kept piling on the pressure through points from Ciaran Morrissey and another brilliantly taken goal from Keith Lacey. Brogans meanwhile had kept the scoreboard ticking over largely through frees and dominated for a ten minute patch from the 15th to the 25th minute, leaving it a three point game 2-4 to 7 points. Hazelwood pushed away again through Jamie Coughlan with three points and Jerry Lane with one. Brogans responded with a point but Hazelwood saw out the half in style with an outstanding finish from Ian Carroll, controlling straight off the hurley without taking it into his hand. Hazelwood had a nine point lead at half time 3-8 to 8 points. Hazelwood got off to a rocky start in the second half as Brogans came out fighting scoring 1-1 to bring it to a four point game. Peter Irwin replied with a point only for Brogans to bring it back to four. Our full forward line were combining well and Jamie Coughlan and Keith Lacey both added points to bring the margin out to six. Brogans weren’t finished yet, though scoring a goal after a long ball in to the Hazelwood backline was a close as they were going to get . However the last ten minutes were all Hazelwood with three points from Jerry Lane, a brace from Jamie Coughlan and one each from Ciaran Morrissey and Peter Irwin to leave the final score Hazelwood 3-19, St Brogans 3-10. The semi-final against Killenaule looks set to be fixed for Wednesday 5th or Thursday 6th March.

Croom: 3-2
On Friday last Hazelwood College sporting a set of new jerseys sponsored by the AIB took on Croom in Dromcollgher. Despite a good effort by the Croom side there was no doubt but that Hazelwood were the stronger team. Jerry Lane opened the scoring with a goal from 20 yards followed quickly by a point. A high ball dropped in from Michael Mc Guire was doubled on at the edge of the square by Niall O Brien and ended up in the Croom net. Croom replied with a goal but Hazelwod still led by 4 points at half time. In the second half Jerry Lane scored a goal from 60yards out and points by Eric O Connor and Shane Carroll left Hazelwood College in control of the game for the rest of the match. Eddie Prunty and Eric O Connor added two goals to the Dromcollogher sides tally. Best on the day for Hazelwood Jerry Lane, Eric O Connor, Christopher Lane, Joseph Casey, Shane Carroll and Shane O Callaghan.
