The U16 VEC Colleges County Final was contested between Hazelwood College Dromcollogher and Colaiste na Trocaire of Rathkeale recently. The match took place in Mick Neville Park in very wet and slippery conditions. It took both teams some time to settle into the game but once Hazelwood settled they were in full control to the final whistle. Despite being a hard and physical game it was joy to watch as the skills of hurling were well displayed from both sides. The man of the match was Jack Fitzgibbon who showed tremendous leadership throughout the game and scored some great points. At the end of the game Hazelwood were victorious on a decisive scoreline of 4-15 to 1-5.
