‘Bord Bia’ Winner for Hazelwood College
Hazelwood students out did themselves yet again with another win for the Home Economics Department. Second year students Emma Sheehan & Laura Enright were the overall winners with Kelley Buckley taking runner-up prize in Category One of the Bord Bia Quality Mark Schools Competition in the Listowel Food Fair recently. Students were asked to create a healthy & nourishing lunch box menu consisting of a sandwich type element, snack and drink. The ingredients used had to contain the Bord Bia Quality Mark and they had to provide a detailed summary why it is important for customers to have the Quality Mark logo on the raw materials for the lunch box menu. The students also had to design a poster to promote the healthy lunch box menu to parents and students. Emma and Laura received a €100 An Post voucher and certificate each, while Kelley received a €50 An Post voucher and certificate. A big congratulations to the girls on their winning entries and the Home Economics Department look forward to their future endeavours.
