Picture b: Hazelwood College students Lauren Moran (left) and Tara O’Brien (right) whose entry ‘Migrane- It’s not just a headache’ was an investigation into the prevalence of migraine in adolescents in Ireland. The project also examined people’s awareness of the effects that migraine has on people’s school, social and sporting life.
Picture c Hazelwood College students Mary Kate Fehin (left) and Ava Mullane (right) are pictured at the BT Young Scientist and Technologist Exhibition with their entry ‘Accents- The Unspoken About Prejudice’ which was an entry in the Social and Behavioural Sciences Section. This project aimed to investigate whether people form a prejudicial opinion on somebody based solely on their accent and whether we acquire this prejudice as we grow older.

This project examined the effect being in a classroom had on student hearing.

Their project, ‘An Investigation into the Production of Selenium Enriched Dairy Products with Commercial Potential’, was entered in the Biological and Ecological Section and aimed to allow for the production of selenium enriched dairy products benefitting bovine and human health.
