Under 16½ Munster Schools Football Win
Hazelwood College Under 16½ Munster Schools Football Championship, who emerged decisive winners over Comeragh College, Carrick on Suir, on a score line of 6-11 to 1-3. Hazelwood managed to establish their lead early on, by getting the ball from the backs through the mid-field of Denis Donegan and Seamus Flanagan, and allowed the impressive forwards led by Jack O’Sullivan to secure the vital goals that made the difference in the match. A strong backlash by Comeragh College was contained by the Hazelwood backs, marshalled by Sean Madigan and Brian Buckley, who did so much to frustrate Carrick-on-Suir attempts to narrow the lead Hazelwood worked hard to build. The win sees Hazelwood comfortably secure passage into Round 2 of the Championship.
